AUTUMN ELECTRONIC FESTIVAL

Last May while I was on tour with Carl Cox we played at this fantastic Club in Toulouse called La Dune!  It was the INOX3 Electronic Festival and at this gig I had to play after Sasha & before Carl!  It was so amazing as the crowd were so responsive especially as my name wasn’t even on the flyer & nobody knew who I was!  So I was thrilled when they invited me back to play at their new 'Autumn Electronic Festival' but this time I was playing after the 3 times no.1 Dj in the world “Tiesto” & before Misstress Barbara!

Wow I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to be invited to play another fantastic gig in such a wicked club with a really wicked crowd! We got to the club about 1am & it was packed between 3,000-4,000 people as this was Tiesto’s first time playing in a club in France!

Tom Pooks was playing a really excellent underground electronic house set! & did a great job getting the crowd ready for Tiesto. Tom Pooks is a great guy & Dj who is releasing some top electronic tunes on Ovum & watch out for a new release on Intec early next year!!

France isn’t really known for a big Trance scene, as electro & techno are the main music styles favoured here so I wondered how Tiesto’s sound would go down. I got to listen to a good bit of his set & he played some really nice & beautiful trance tunes which the crowd enjoyed. I must say that for a no.1 Dj he seems to have a problem getting his photo taken and while I was in the Dj box trying to get some nice shots for my website he told me to “please stop taking photo’s” which I was really surprised by & so stayed out of the Dj box until it was my turn to play.

I guess I’ve been spoiled by playing with Carl Cox as in between playing a 3 hour set he’d sign about 1000 autographs & pose for photos & shake peoples hands & shout on the microphone etc etc all to make sure the people are happy & having the best time ever, but not all Djs are like Carl.

Unfortunately Misstress Barbara was ill and could not make the gig, I really hope she is feeling better now. As Barbara couldn’t make it I thought to myself I’m gonna play a different sound to last time’s pumping electronic house set. This time as I was playing later & after Tiesto, I decided to play a pumping Techno set & the crowd seemed to really want Techno by that stage! It went down a storm, people jumping & shouting, lots of hands in the air & lots of energy even though it was 5.30am! I couldn’t believe it when Tom Pooks told me I had to stop playing at 7am, it went too fast! The crowd were so nice & gave me a big cheer & I was so happy that they had enjoyed my techno sound!

I met some lovely people at La Dune again, everyone was so kind & saying how much they enjoyed my set last May when I played with Carl & that they were excited to see me back again! A big thank you to all at La Dune, your club is fantastic & especially a big thank you to Michelle who gave me lots of wicked T-Shirts that she designs herself, they are called “Legend of the Street”. Check out the photos coming soon!

I really do love playing in France as the people are really passionate about life & about their music & they can really tell when a Dj is feeling the music. They like their music strong, full of energy & emotion and that’s fantastic! Merci Beaucoup & hopefully see you next year! xx
