Thailand Holiday April 2008

Hi, I just had the best holiday in Thailand, it was my first time there & I totally fell in love with this country. Everything is great. The people were honestly the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life. So friendly, kind & smiley. They are really spiritual people & their Buddhist way of life is an inspiration.

The food was fantastic… So fresh! I lived on fresh fruit & Pad Thai Shrimp… fab! I even did a cookery class & can now make a mean spring roll!

The scenery was so beautiful… we stayed on Koh Phangan, the island famous for the full moon parties & the place I stayed was like paradise, I don’t think I’ve ever felt so relaxed in my whole life… We also went to a half moon party in the jungle… the music was Psy Trance & it was lots of fun.

The weather was fantastic… 38 degrees most days! Hot hot hot! I was there for Thai New Year & the Sonkran water festival where people soak each other with water! It was crazy. They had open back taxi / vans & the taxi driver would slow down so little kids could throw buckets of water in on top of you! It was really funny.

I even loved Bangkok, such a vibrant city… really great buzz… lots of crazy Tuk Tuk drivers & great markets, great for shopping… everything was so cheap compared to London. The Grand Palace & Wat Pho are def worth seeing. Really amazing & beautiful buildings… like art.

We also went to Hua Hin which is where the king goes on holiday. It’s a bit more built up & def not really a back packer place but the beach is beautiful.

By the way the Thai people really love their King. There are pictures, posters & billboards of him everywhere, but they are all shown in a very respectful way. It was really nice. I think he is the longest running King in the world.

I also got addicted to Thai Massages… not for the faint hearted, it was more like a physio theraphy session but I loved them & felt great afterwards. Don’t be fooled, those little Thai ladies are really strong!

I had huge trouble at Gatwick airport, when I arrived to catch my flight to Thailand, they told me my booking had been cancelled due to my stupid bank (Lloyds) calling them to say it had been a fraud purchase!!! Can you believe it! So the flight was full, & I had to run to the nearest internet place & buy a new flight with a different airline, from Heathrow later that night. So I’m still trying to get my money back from my original flight… £614! Not to mention all the extra cash I had to pay out for my new flight… The airline say the bank have my cash & the bank say the airline have my cash! … what a pain in the ass!

Anyway I think it was worth all the hassle & I can’t wait to go back to Thailand. Like I said you won’t believe now nice the people are there. It was really refreshing to experience this especially after coming from stressed out London. Do yourself a favour & go visit this country.

Khàp khun Kha Thailand! xx
