You will not believe how good the party was that I played in Oran in Algeria on Wednesday 22 nd March! Really really really FANTASTIC!!!

I had such a long day travelling; I left my house at 7am Wednesday morning, then flew London to Milan, Milan to Algiers, then took an internal flight Algiers to Oran! I reached the hotel at 10pm! Aaaah! But I knew the party was going to be great the minute I met the promoter Kada & saw how excited he was. He told me that he saw me play previously in Algiers at the Pasha Club & that he just had to bring me to Oran.

The club was part of the new Sheraton Hotel & Towers, which only opened last September. The hotel was really beautiful & and when we arrived there was this guy playing this huge piano in reception… so nice! When I got to my room I couldn’t believe the size of the bed! It was nearly the same size as my studio in London!! (my studio is small but I love it!)

Me & Livia quickly ordered some room service then got ready for the club as I was due on at 1am. The club was packed & I was told that they had presold all 400 tickets plus more people were outside wanting to get in. They also had this huge screen with photos from my website & from when I was on tour with Carl. I was like “Oh my God!”

The promoter asked if I’d mind wearing a T-Shirt of the sponsor of the night at the start of my set, which of course I didn’t mind but it was really warm so after about 30mins I had to take it off as I was roasting!! The crowd gave me a huge cheer when I was introduced & started playing. There was such an electric vibe in the club, really really great & the set up & sound in the Dj booth was excellent.

Lately I’ve been playing a lot of parties with bad monitors, which is so disappointing and makes Djing really hard & un-enjoyable, as you just can’t play to your best if you can’t hear properly, but here in this club, everything was perfect! I could hear, I felt relaxed; the crowd was so much fun & really responsive, shouting & cheering, jumping up & down, hands in the air… such great energy. I was so happy!

I was supposed to play from 1am-3am but I couldn’t stop & didn’t want to stop so I carried on playing until 5am when the club closed! So Great!! During those 4 hours I went from house, vocal, funky, tech & tribal to electronic to techno and back to house again. I really was feeling the energy of the crowd & they were feeling my energy and my music. So wicked & so much FUN!!!!

I couldn’t believe the 4 hours went so quickly! At the end I got handed the mic & in my best French/Irish accent (hehe!) I thanked the crowd & got another huge cheer! Yeah, what a night! I must start learning French (I promise when I get back from Brazil!)

The promoters Kada & Kader were both really happy! They said I was the first female Dj to ever play in the Club & that it was their best party by far! Outside the hotel they have a beautiful outdoor pool & terrace area where they do outdoor parties & even beach parties during the summer!! which they said they will get me back to play …fingerscrossed!!! Yeah!

The next day they drove us around Oran & brought us to a typical Algerian fish restaurant where the food was yummie. Kada the promoter was so funny, I thought I was hyperactive but man this guy wins hands down, I was exhausted sitiing beside him at the meal, a real character! After dinner we went back to the airport to catch a flight back to Algiers, as by car it would take 7 hours! – no thanks!

I really really like Algerian people, they are very warm & friendly & very funny! I met lots of cool people Nabila, Kamel, Nadia, Sihem & Bilou, plus they all have a great sense of humour. I was joking & laughing with them all the time! Really good fun!

Right back to Algiers. It was Thursday night which, is the same as our Saturday night & the Pasha club was packed. There was definitely a more VIP crowd here then the last time I played there. Rabah the promoter let me play a 2 hour set & again the crowd went nuts. There was one very electronic Mylo remix I played & I was like “Holy Sh*t!” people were waving lit sparklers in the air, a guy was spraying champagne all over the packed dancefloor & it was just madness! COOL!

After I played the next Dj played Rai music, which is typical Arabic music, very lively, & boy do these people dance sexy to this music… Hot hot hot! Hands in the air and lots of hip shaking & teasing going on, really great to watch. Algerians are wicked dancers & are really beautiful looking people, both guys & girls. Everyone’s gorgeous! Think I’ll go on a diet before going back there again! Hehe!

When I Dj, every so often there’s a really special gig that stays in your heart & mind & the gig I had in Oran was another special one for me! Thanks so much to everyone at that party, I really do hope I can come back again during the summer! That would be really cool!

When I played my first gig in Algeria last February, I met Rabah’s wife Zahra, I asked her before I played if she liked house music & she said “No”, I was like…Oh Dear!... she’s gonna hate my set. Then when I met her again this time I asked her, “So Zahra, do you like house music?” and she shouted out with her hands in the air & a big smile “YES!!! You made me like house music!” so the whole weekend I kept asking her as a joke “So Zahra do you like house music?” We just kept bursting out laughing… so great!

Thank you Kada, Kader, Rabah & Livia for organising everything and a big Merci Beaucoup to Algeria!! See you next time! xx
