DJ CLODAGH’S TRIP TO CROATIA

See the photo's here...

It’s always really exciting playing & visiting new countries, so I was well excited about going to Croatia as anyone who has been to Croatia has told me it was really beautiful & had nothing but good things to say!

I headed off to London on Friday 12 th Jan because I had to catch an early flight to Pula, Croatia on the next morning. I had a nice sleep on the plane to PULA & after a good inspection of my Efx 1000 unit by the Croatian Customs I was finally met by TECH ART promoters & brothers Mirzinho & Miche.

After I dropped my stuff off at my nice hotel, Evana, Mirzinho’s very sweet girlfriend gave me a tour of Pula. Usually I don’t get to see much of the places I play as I often arrive at 10pm at night and head straight to the club, so it was really great to get to Pula early & get to have a walk around & even better to have a tour guide!

Pula is really pretty city with a huge old Amphitheater where Gladiators used to flight the lions about 3,000 years ago! This was a big surprise as I would never have associated Croatia with Gladiators!! It's the sixth largest Amphitheater in the world and nowadays it is used for concerts & operas! Pula has a big Italian influence & reminded me of the town of Vicenza in Italy, similar buildings & architechture.

After my tour, we went to the club to do a soundcheck, then went for dinner in Mirzinho & Miche home town, then back to the hotel for a quick sleep before the big night. The Cube Club looked really nice, reminded me of a castle, lots of stonework & the sound on the dancefloor was great. Mirzinho started the night with a great set, then one of the Cube Club Dj’s played next… all great techno!

The club slowly started to fill up & by the time I started to play it was nearly full. I could get a great vibe off the people, everyone was so friendly & I knew I would have fun. So I started playing at 2am, but really had problems with the monitor… couldn’t hear properly at all… even some of my records I couldn’t even recognise, but after a few mixes I think my ears adjusted & it I got into it more… it was really hard work so I didn’t enjoy as much as I usually do but the most important thing is the crowd were enjoying!

After me it was birthday boy Miche’s turn, again he played a wicked set, with lots of scratching, more people were coming all the time as the bars in town had closed by then. Finally it was Rraul’s turn to finish the party… he has been playing for over 20 years & you could really tell… I totally enjoyed his set & played lots of wicked old tribal techno…! I really miss all the old style Cristian Varella, Tom Hades, Marco Bailey style techno records… the techno now a days seems to have lost that energy, or there’s def not that much produced now a days which is a shame, but like everything music & people move on. Which I guess is a good thing.

Anyway overall the party was really great. I loved the atmosphere & watching all the people dancing the asses off to Techno! The Croatian people are really all very nice & friendly & the Promoters were really professional & looked after me really well so a big huge thanks to Mirzinho for inviting me to play & Evana for showing me around! Also a big thanks to Korio who came all the way from Bulgaria for the party! …CROATIA ROCKS!!

Until next time dudes & dudettes!!! …see ya , Luv Clodagh xx
